It has been a long, hot summer.

I visited my late friend Clint today. He died in 1990, on my own personal "9/11".

Hope everyone takes care.

Holly's(7) rather optimistic view on the behavior of Milo the cat:

"I think that when he scratches he's saying 'I love you', and when he hisses he's saying, 'Thank you for petting me.'"

Okay, so I'm getting carried away with the whole YouTube thing, but what the hell...

THE PBR YARMULKE
I recently met a gentleman with a rather unique feature. He wasn't bald, but his closely-cropped hair revealed what I originally thought from the corner of my eye was a yarmulke or skullcap. Upon closer, covert inspection, I realized that it was in fact a large tattoo that covered the entire top of his head. Prominently centered on his crown was the Pabst Blue Ribbon beer logo. The "lines" around his cranial circumference were the tattooed edges of a bottlecap. The cumulative effect was the appearance of a human beer bottle. I must admit a certain admiration for the dedication to a specific alcoholic beverage that would inspire someone to such a display. Not something I would ever consider, but... Godspeed, PBR Man.

The Golden AN

This was a Sesame Street bit I vividly remember from 30 years ago...for some reason.

Happy Elephant

This is a "found object" that I discovered seven years ago while cleaning out the contents of a study carrel at the UGA library. It was included in a box of other photos taken by a grad student from Taiwan. He had left in 1995, and never came back.

CollegeHumor Movie: To the man who was quick enough to record this insane preacher when he appeared on local cable - we salute you.

"Give me that Old Time Religion"

Doctor Who: New Earth

I recently caught the latest episode of the new DW series, and...it wasn't half bad. Plot holes and all, it was mostly just a fun romp. Tennant seems to have a handle on his character, and my hopes are rising that the show can live up to its promise.

Robert Osborne's Classic Film Festival

We'll be there for North by Northwest Thursday, as well as Raiders of the Lost Ark on Saturday. It's not every day that you get a chance to see these films on the big screen. I would still like to see an arthouse cinema come to Athens, here's hoping...
